JeZebelle

Vice President In April 1996 i was hired as Vice President of the clothing company Jezebelle, here in Minneapolis.  Run by president and CEO, Bethany Buchanan, our mission was designed to empower women and promote women in business.  The company started with a men's line of t-back underwear featured nightly on the Gay 90's dancers.  Eventually the company moved into drag wear and exotic fashions.  We reached our apex when the Jezebelle Fashion show was held at The Quest Night Club in Minneapolis that fall.
Aside from my focus on marketing and advertisement, i was inclined to design a few pieces myself.  It usually happened around 10pm when i was done with work and wanted to go out, instead of go home.  So i would just grab some cool material and start surging.  I had no idea my hot pants would sell like they did.  I left the company in August of that year when the owner entered a board meeting one day and announced that i had been chosen to create the first ever Sex Art Gallery. There may be a few Jezebelle pieces still available at SexWorld.  If not, they're in my closet.  The company has since diminished, but it was an unforgettable experience.  It was definity cosmic.  On the day i was hired into the company my boyfriend had been repeatedly playing a song by Jean Loves Jezebel.  It was driving me nuts, so i asked him about it.  That led us into a lengthy discussion of the word Jezebelle.  I related to him the story of my friend Tim who had been calling me Jezebelle for several years, with no apparent  reason other than that it was the first name always entering his head when he saw me.  Though i corrected him constantly, he always called me Jez.  ;-)  Isn't that right T?  Anyway, I also spoke of the song "Juke Joint Jezebel" which had always given me butterflies, as if the song had been mysteriously written about me.  That afternoon, Mz Buchanan offered me the position of Vice President, which i graciously accepted.  After shaking hands and being welcomed on board i asked her, "so what are you thinking of calling the business?"  "Jezebelle," she replied.  I almost fell over.
Following are some of my go-go designs with ME in them.   (Before the aliens cut my hair off)
