October Project
9/29/97
There once was a crow and an angel.
Both sent to earth to uncover a mystery
A mystery in October.
The angel had, for years
searched for a path with her name upon it.
Human-ness was foreign and faulted.
She found her-self grow weary through the days.
Stripped of her memory
the angel was posed to recognize her-self
before she would ever know the crow.
Her stomach turned and her feelings burned
and she knew she had a mission.
To what? She thought.
For who? She thought
and why wont someone just tell me?
She ached for relief
when that bird began buzzing
and bugging
and taunting her
in the early days of mid-life.
Atop the roofs it would screech at her.
In the trees it would flock to her
in multiples of twenty -
but still in one voice.
She would scream at the trees
and the tree would caw back
in unison.
Unearthly, she knew
she must keep to her-self until the world was ready.
Still, she wondered what the bird was saying.
The sign was easy now.
The bird itself marked some-thing
(usually her preminiscing).
As the visions continued to come true
she accepted the bird's place at her side.
Even if she could not catch it.
Even if she could not see it,
that bird was always there -
appearing, disappearing, swooping
landing, eating, teasing,
sitting on her balcony...with cats!
It wasn't saying, it was marking.
It was all in the timing.
Every condition it would mark
by design of its be-ing.
No words, she learned, simply presence.
Communion with the unseen
the unspoken
the dream.
The dream that they'd all be free.
Freed from their bodies.
Freed from their minds.
Freed from the illusions
and the archetypes of time.
There is a lesson here in uncovering myself
as scary as it seems...
i must awaken
and become the dream.
