When you find yourself eating Sushi Downtown,
Try
Tampo-po’s next time around
And
think of me.
When
you see the Tram high on the hill
And
you think the ride would be god-like still
Look
for me, and see what i’ve seen.
When
you feel the swollen earth
Tight
with the fault and its tension
You’re
with me, i have walked there.
When
shadows flood the Coachella valley
Like
the majestic sweeping arm of god
take
it in for me, i miss that desert’s twilight.
When
water runs through the wash
And
you’re waiting on one side of town
Wait
for me, for it is i who am raining.
When
you catch yourself smelling
The
sweet desert blossoms, so fragrant and alive
You
will sense me, i am the sent.
When
you see the palms and date palms sway
And
you notice the air a bit thicker than here,
It
is i, on the breeze that we share.
And
if by chance you make your way
Up
that hill behind the museum
Where
a retaining wall cradles the sacred place -
You
will be at the spot where elders have prayed
And
teens have worshiped each other at night
You
can find me
My
sign is etched in stone.
If
you move to the wall
Where
the cave’s been blocked off
Place
your hands on that stone
Feel
the mountain.
Touch
it for me.
Hear
its tones.
And
should you trun you’ll see me
As
you look upon the valley
The
courses, greens and fairways…
Breathe
it with me,
As
clouds form near the mountains.
And
if you should happen to see the sun come up
And
you’re hit by a blessed ray of that light
Be
synergized, be energized, be exorcized
Be
free.
When
you’re in Palm Springs
Think
of me.
My
sweet desert home.
